The New 'Do You Have A Gun in The House' Playgroup Question

‘Are Your Children Vaccinated?’ Is the New ‘Do You Have a Gun in the House?’

A recent article on the Time [magazine] website written by David the Amateur Idiot/Professional Dad blog has brought up this question and I thought I'd add my opinion to it. Please excuse the sarcasm.

You won't find the article on his blog though because he writes for Time.com but you can find it here.

David,

Most of my parenting decisions don't affect you? Since when did you become the parent in my family?

No judgement here on my part, it's not my business what you want to think about my family or what you feel is the right decision for my family, especially when it comes to weapons, of any kind.

A loaded weapon in my house is none of your business, the same goes for my decision to immunize my children.

Most parents who keep a loaded weapon in their house, don't leave it in the toy box, or the pantry, the dresser, the refrigerator, outside or in any of the drawers and cupboards with the child safety locks on them.

A loaded weapon should be kept out of view of little ones, even tweens and teens who do not know how to handle a weapon of any kind. It should be in a gun safe, one of those safes that have a
biometric reader on it. That's where mine are.

Now, lets talk about your steak knives in the drawer or even in plain sight in places such as the knife block. I'd consider that a 'loaded weapon' because of the ease of access from being used as a cutting tool to used as a weapon.

Knife deaths happen all the time, why should they not be considered as a weapon?

Let's move onto your opinions of parents who don't vaccinate their kids.

Good for you for making that decision to you feel is important for your family, it's YOUR decision, not mine so no judgement here either but I hope you've done your research, if not it's your choice, not mine. HOORAY FOR YOU!

One thing I hate about the news media, especially the news media in social media for the plain and simple fact that I don't feel that facebook, twitter or other social media sites should include biased opinions such as yours, but don't worry, I won't judge there either.

If you have done any research on vaccinations at all, you'd know that your 2 year old is not due for their second MMR vaccine for at least 2-4 years. That MMR is given at 12-15 months and again at 4-6 years so again, I won't judge you on you calling your child's pediatrician to check on their vaccination status but I'll go ahead and judge that same pediatrician if he/she did go ahead and recommend your child's 2nd MMR at 2 yrs old.

Catastrophic if your child got measles after one vaccine with no booster? Vaccines work right, so why are you so afraid of your child getting measles, mumps or some other vaccine preventable disease? While your at it, please find an actual scientific study that proves that the anti-vaccine movement is bringing back these diseases. The only proof I've found is the news media and pro-vaccinators.

Accidental anti-vaxer? Now that is moronic to know that, as a pro-vaxer as yourself, you think that you should feel shame for forgetting to get your child vaccinated 2-4 years early. Shame on you for feeling that you have done your research and have decided not to inject poisons
into your child.

Feeling a little judgemental yet?

You seem to like to judge which dad in the group has a career that you feel is 'out there' and why should you care what wacky stuff they are up to, including their child's immunization status and how they follow the vaccination schedule or not.

I see a lot of pro-vaxers who feel that their child does not need all the vaccines their child is scheduled for.

I don't feel that newborns or toddlers need to be immunized with a vaccine that is made to protect against a disease that is contracted through sex, IV drug use, dirty tattoo needles etc. Is it alright with you that I judge you if your 2 and 5 yr olds are doing activities such as those. I'm sure you'd probably judge them too.

Chicken pox is another one. I had chicken pox when I was six. Sure it was uncomfortable but my sister, brother and I got to count each others pox and see who had the most each day. Then, we were given oatmeal baths and Calamine lotion to slather all over each other. My 3 yr old brother didn't even care if it was pink.

Sure, we'll always have the chance to get shingles but then again, with the live Varicella virus in the vaccine, so do your kids. Congratulations, you just gave your children an opportunity to get shingles without having chicken pox! Woo Hoo!

Many doctors don't mind giving their patients one vaccine at a time, keep your patients so you still get their money, isn't that right? They aren't dropping their patients because their parents refuse to get all suggested vaccines at one visit because they still have a vaccinated patient in their practice.

I'm sure that you hand pick those dad's in your New York City Dad's group according to whether their kids are fully vaccinated on schedule, one vaccine at a time or not vaccinated at all. I'm sure the list grows considerably smaller too when you factor in how many of those  dad's who vaccinate, have any kind of loaded weapon in their home or not.

Wait, I'm confused. Not all vaccines are 100% effective, yet your children are out of the danger zone but that they still have a small chance to be the unlucky few who are vaccine resistant? Ignorance at it's best.

Ah, there it is! I was wondering when you were going to bring in the topic of 'herd immunity'. Of course it is not a total admission of 'herd immunity' on your part, just implying that children are banking on others being vaccinated just about says it all, yet shows your biased opinion when you label a parent who has done thorough research on vaccinations as selfish, yet you seem pretty selfish in your opinion that everyone should vaccinate because your children are too vulnerable because they haven't gotten their boosters 2-4 years early.

Formaldehyde, aluminum, polysorbate-80, human fetal cells (MRC-5 and WI-38), bovine serum, monkey and dog kidney cells, lactose, Ethanol, Phenol, Detergent, egg proteins and a host of other toxic ingredients along with yes, you guessed it, Thimerisol.

All are listed on the
CDC vaccine ingredient list

No thank you! Pretty scary if you ask me, especially if you read the vaccine package inserts and see the side effects of each vaccine.

Yes, I secure my firearm(s), make sure my husband secures his and demand that my teen secures hers. She doesn't have the privilege to have access to our biometric gun safe, but it will happen when she is responsible enough to be privy to that. Yes, it is my responsibility as a responsible parent to make sure that my children and their friends, do not have access to something as deadly as a firearm.

There it is again, with a full admission that herd immunity actually exists, yet you don't know about the concept of herd immunity. That's right, it is a C-O-N-C-E-P-T and cannot be proven because as you said above, no vaccine is 100% effective, even if 100% of the population is vaccinated, it can never be achieved because of that 100% ineffectiveness.

A pro-vaxer in my child's playgroup should not, and will not get their business in my choices. It may not be a topic that you should debate but it sure will bring one if you go out and ask someone about their child's vaccine status. Which reminds me, what is YOUR vaccine status? Do you ask the other parents about their vaccine status?

Sincerely,

Naturally Healthy Mama

P.S. Your ignorance is showing.

The Vaccination Debate & a Victim of Big Pharma

There really isn't a 'vaccination' debate, it's more about what side of the road you are on when it comes to vaccinating.

I recently read an amazingly well written article with so many good links in it that it could put any HuffPost, Time, CNN, Fox, MSNBC or any other news media source with well known writers to shame, not to mention all the sorry attempts at tearing down any parent who is not convinced that a parents right to not vaccinate is not their own.

Megan, from Livingwhole.org pretty much hits the nail on the head. She's put all the websites such as Violent Metaphors, Mother Jones, Slate, The Daily Beast and many others to shame because of their lack of credible links to real medical studies really aren't worth my time because when I find one article, there usually is another very similar or a copy & paste.

Unless the news media is going to actually research the subject at hand, (safety and efficacy,) and can prove without a shadow of a doubt that measles 'coming back' to the US after it had been eradicated in 2000, is all because of the anti vaccine movement, then give up the argument because there are no studies proving that is the case. That's not a debate, it is a sorry attempt at diverting the failed studies by Big Pharma, the CDC etc and publishing only the successful (moneymaking) studies.

If this is their best attempt at proving that it is all the fault of the parents who choose not to vaccinate their family then they've got a long way go. If there is never going to be a study published of unvaccinated vs vaccinated then why would there ever be a study that proves the anti-vaccine movement is to blame?

I have heard it time and again that parents should just listen to the medical professionals and in the words of Nancy Snyderman just "Get your damn vaccine!" Lets all sit down, shut up and give your child over to the government via vaccines, is that how it is going to be now that some states are making it mandatory? Sure does seem so.

Sitting down and shutting up doesn't work. Do you teach your children to just walk across the street without looking? No, you teach them to stop, look and listen right? It's easy, first stop then look for the danger, listen for the danger and when there is danger, then wait until the danger is past.

Should we teach them that they must respect others and their points of view or opinions? Should we teach them to think for themselves, teach them how to learn on their own, teach them to know about risks and benefits and weigh the pro's and con's? Of course we should, don't let your loved ones look past the risks and see only the benefits.

We all have reasons why we don't vaccinate, my own reason is because I had no idea what is in the vaccines.

Silly me, I didn't even research enough to know that there are some vaccines that do not have viruses in them but instead, bacteria.

I didn't know which ones were live or dead, didn't even believe that there was formaldehyde in them.

My child didn't get autism from the vaccines, didn't even get a fever over 100 so why did I stop vaccinating?

Because of my own (blind) faith in my children's Pediatrician and the CDC, that the vaccines worked  well and that my children wouldn't get the VPD if they got the vaccine, not knowing that there is a failure rate.

I didn't know how they worked besides creating antibodies but I didn't know how they created antibodies and didn't know how long it took for those antibodies to be completed.
I didn't even know anything about the so called 'herd immunity' concept, I hadn't researched any part of the vaccines . . . . at all.

I was a victim of Big Pharma.

I read the literature at the dr's office, I got it from the pharmacy, got it at my prenatal appointments and even got it at the hospital when my children were born so why shouldn't I question the vaccine?

I wish I knew that then.

I don't vaccinate anymore. My reason is not because of Jenny McCarthy, Kristen Cavallari, Andrew Wakefield, Dr Sears, etc,. That isn't my style. I don't follow the celebs and what their opinion is, not even when it comes to political matters with celebs like George Clooney endorsing Obama or Clint Eastwood endorsing Obama then four years later, endorsing Romney. Like I said, it isn't my style.

I don't vaccinate because I have seen the studies, I've read what Immunologists have written for and against vaccines and much more and when it comes down to it, both me and my husband agree on the reasons why we don't vaccinate any longer. We don't vaccinate for the greater good of our children.

That is my reason for not vaccinating, it may not be yours, it may be the same, but it is yours and yours alone. End of story.

Lavender Essential Oil

Our first guest blogger is Porche Berry

I'll let her introduce herself with a few words from Porche:

I’m a 27yr old WAHM raising the most magical boy! I have been blessed beyond measure to find my passion in good health and good food.  You just might see a recipe or two from me later.
I first started learning about natural health methods as a child because my mother put
strong focus on it after my younger sister was diagnosed with Autism.
My knowledge and passion continue to grow on a daily basis.
I am developing Material Safety Data Sheets for the essential oils I already know, and later will  continue to expand the number of oils.

I recommend lavender automatically when someone asks where to begin with
essential oils. There are so many uses and so few cautions that it is difficult to have an
accident with it.

And it smells so good!

The history of how a herbalist discovered the healing properties of lavender is almost
comical to me.
A French chemist by the name of  Rene Maurice Gattefosse,
burned his arm while working and a bowl of  lavender oil was the closest liquid.
He submerged his arm in it & immediately felt relief.
Gattefosse also noticed how quickly his arm healed without scarring.

However, the Romans knew long ago how effective a healing agent lavender was.  At times a pound of the flowers could cost 100 denarii. That was the equivalent of
1 months salary for the average farm worker.

Lavender is also mentioned in the Bible in Solomon’s poem.  “Nard and Saffron, Calamus and Cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree, with Myrrh and Aloes,  and all the finest spices.”
'Nard' being the old name for the plant.

I am creating quick reference sheets for essential oils as I go.  Here is a pdf of the Material Safety Data Sheet I’ve created for lavender.

Pertussis Debunked

Old article, new studies - deserves to be debunked

Anti-Vaccine Movement Causes The Worst Whooping Cough Epidemic In 70 Years!

(Psst.... that should say 57 years)

"The great northwest of the U.S. is known for its natural beauty. It’s also a high-tech region with a highly educated public – not exactly the kind of place one would expect to fall for the anti-science rhetoric of the anti-vaccine movement."

One would assume that the highly educated public shouldn't fall for the science rhetoric of the anti-vaccine movement. Sounds like they're pretty smart right?? Well, in a high-tech region with a highly educated public you would expect that public to do some research before deciding what is the best choice for their family wouldn't you?

Turns out that the highly educated public is pretty smart when it comes to vaccinating.

"There is a controversy among more educated mothers about the safety of certain kinds of immunization, that may be part of what is going on here, but we don’t know for sure."

"But it has. The anti-vaxxers have convinced a frighteningly high number of parents in   Washington State to withhold vaccines from their children. A story in The Seattle Times last year reported that"

"Washington [state] parents are choosing not to vaccinate their kindergartners at a  rate
higher than anywhere else in the country."

In the 2012-2013 school year, the CDC reports that the vaccination rate in Washington State was 91.9% for the DTaP (Diptheria, Teatnus and Pertussis/whooping cough vaccine)

According to the CDC's MMWR, only Arkansas, Colorado, D.C., Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Carolina have lower rates than Washington state in 2012, which would make Washington parents vaccinating more than those 10 states and our nations capital.

"This despite the fact that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (formed by the founder of Microsoft, which is headquartered in Seattle) is one of the world’s leading sponsors of vaccine research."

Bill Gates must have a common enemy in his company, which would probably mean that a lot of his employees aren't vaccinating their children.
"When the vaccination rates drop, everyone becomes more vulnerable to infectious diseases. When more than 90% of the population is vaccinated, we have "herd immunity" this means the disease can’t spread because there aren’t enough susceptible people in the community. So the high rate of vaccine refusal in Washington makes it easier for whooping cough (and other diseases) to spread."

"These awardees include 50 states and the District of Columbia (DC), five cities, and eight U.S.-affiliated jurisdictions.* This report summarizes vaccination coverage from 48 states and DC and exemption rates from 49 states and DC for children entering kindergarten for the 201213 school year.
Forty-eight states and DC reported vaccination coverage, with medians of 94.5% for 2 doses of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine; 95.1% for local requirements for diphtheria, tetanus toxoid, and acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccination; and 93.8% for 2 doses of varicella vaccine among awardees with a 2-dose requirement. Forty-nine states and DC reported exemption rates, with the median total of 1.8%."

source: CDC MMWR

Basically, 'herd immunity' has been achieved, since more than 90% of the kindergarten population has been vaccinated. Wrong.

Herd Immunity is a concept, a theory, an idea. Many health professionals actually believe this to be gospel because the CDC said it's a real thing. Wrong again. The CDC never said that Herd Immunity is real and it has never been scientifically proven. It is a concept, plain and simple.

"The media has been complicit in spreading some of the anti-vaccine misinformation. Sometimes it comes straight from the media itself, such as the CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson, who has repeatedly and persistently reported on the purported link between vaccines and autism long after such a link was widely discredited.* Other times it comes from talk shows, magazines, or even airline advertisements that provide a platform for anti-vax celebrity doctors such as Jay Gordon (who gained fame as Jenny McCarthy’s son’s doctor) and "Dr. Bob" Sears, who has published his own "alternative" vaccine schedule in a book filled with anti-vaccine nonsense. These characters continue to claim, at every chance they get, that vaccines cause autism (as Gordon has said, repeatedly), or that they cause other harms, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They use their medical degrees and their faux concern "for the children" to frighten parents into keeping their kids unvaccinated."

I for one, have never heard of Sharyl Attkisson or Jay Gordon so I'll have to google them. Jenny McCarthy, yes but not because of her son. She's an actress, most people in America have heard of her. I've heard of Dr Bob Sears too but not for his anti-vaccine book, he actually doesn't have an anti-vaccine book, as it is appropriately titled

The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child.

It is in no way anti-vaccine as it talks about the real statistics or the diseases, the risks of the diseases, the risks of the vaccine and side effects of the vaccine, the ingredients in vaccines and why they are there etc.

He is a Pediatrician who has made an alternative vaccine schedule, just not what the CDC says is important to get at certain times in a persons life.

"And now we learn that the U.S. is in the midst of the worst whooping cough epidemic in 70 years. One of the most hard-hit states is Washington, which the CDC just announced (on 20 July) has suffered 2,520 cases so far this year, a 1300% increase over last year. This is the highest number of cases reported in Washington since 1942. This plot of the number of cases this year compared to last year shows the dramatic rise in infections:"

If this article actually had the correct title, it wouldn't say that it has been the worst whooping cough outbreak in 70 yrs. Seems some research needs to be done.

In 1945, the DTP (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) vaccine was given. This was the whole cell vaccine and covered all of the strains of pertussis. There was great success BUT there was too many side effects so in 1996, the DTP became the DTap, (Diptheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis) vaccine. You see, with the acellular pertussis vaccine, it only covers one strain of Pertussis, whereas the whole cell pertussis vaccine covered all strains, including the now more popular than ever B. Parapertussis strain.

Taking a look at the statistics on the image above, naturally the statistics will rise with a vaccine that doesn't do it's job like is expected. Kind of like Joe Schmo, a former govenor competing against Arnold Schwartzenager, (also a former govenor) in a weight lifting contest. They do the same job but one is stronger and has become an accomplished weight lifter, body builder and actor, something that Joe Schmo has never been able to accomplish.

If a person follows the CDC vaccine schedule, an infant would get their dTaP vaccine at 2 mo, 4 mo, 6 mo and 15-18 mos with a follow-up booster at 4-6 yrs to get for school so we'll break this up in 5 yrs at a time.

Going back to 1996, those newborns will get 4 DTap vaccines total, and then a booster vaccine (since those vaccines work so fabulously!) at 11-12 yrs old.

1996 had 7,796 cases
1997 had 6,564 cases
1998 had 7,405 cases
1999 had 7,298 cases
2000 had 7,867 cases

Considering those who had already recieved the DTaP vaccine, they will be in need of a booster soon!

2001 had 7,580
2002 had 9,771
2003 had 11,651
2004 had 25,827
2005 had 25,619

Oh, look! There have been more babies born who are in need of the DTaP vaccine and even more who need boosters!

2006 had 15,631
2007 had 10,454
2008 had 13,278
2009 had 16,858
2010 had 27,550

Do you see a pattern yet? The Acellular vaccine isn't working!
Let's see what happens now - since the kindergarten vaccination rate is in the mid 90%, therefore, 'herd immunity' has been achieved.

2011 had 18,719
2012 had 48,277

Amazingly, the CDC even admits that it is not working because there are cases or pertussis in fully vaccinated people.

Something is wrong. Why is the vaccine not working when 'herd immunity' has been achieved?

This is why:

FDA study helps provide an understanding of rising rates of whooping cough and response to vaccination

The study says:

"The FDA conducted the study in baboons, an animal model that closely reproduces the way whooping cough affects people. The scientists vaccinated two groups of baboons one group with a whole-cell pertussis vaccine and the other group with an acellular pertussis vaccine currently used in the U. S. The animals were vaccinated at ages two, four, and six months, simulating the infant immunization schedule. The results of the FDA study found that both types of vaccines generated robust antibody responses in the animals, and none of the vaccinated animals developed outward signs of pertussis disease after being exposed to B. pertussis. However, there were differences in other aspects of the immune response. Animals that received an acellular pertussis vaccine had the bacteria in their airways for up to six weeks and were able to spread the infection to unvaccinated animals. In contrast, animals that received whole-cell vaccine cleared the bacteria within three weeks."

"This research suggests that although individuals immunized with an acellular pertussis vaccine may be protected from disease, they may still become infected with the bacteria without always getting sick and are able to spread infection to others, including young infants who are susceptible to pertussis disease."

Making things worse, it seems, is an increase in cases among children aged 13-14. Children get a booster shot at age 11-12, but the new outbreak indicates that the effectiveness of the booster may not last very long. The dramatic increase in whooping cough this year also suggests that the bacterium that causes it, Bordetella pertussis, is mutating to make the vaccine less effective. Nevertheless, the CDC emphasizes:

"Vaccination continues to be the single most effective strategy to reduce morbidity and mortality caused by pertussis. Vaccination of pregnant women and contacts of infants is recommended to protect infants too young to be vaccinated."
Those 16 yr olds would have had a booster in their pre-teen years so why are there 13-14 yr old getting whooping cough if they have had their DTap and a TDaP booster?

As the above paragraph notes, the Bordetella Pertussis is not the only Whooping Cough bacteria out there, and is making the vaccine less effective.

This good advice is seriously undermined when misinformed doctors such as "Dr. Bob" Sears directly advise pregnant women not to get the whooping cough vaccine, as he did in the Huffington Post

I think that makes him pretty smart! I'm sure that he has read the vaccine inserts that are (supposed to be,) given with each vaccine.
In the TDaP vaccine given to those over 7 years old, it clearly states:

"Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with Adacel vaccine. It is also not known whether Adacel vaccine can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. Adacel vaccine should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.

Diphtheria/pertussis, acellular/tetanus has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of adverse effects on embryo-fetal development. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Diphtheria/pertussis, acellular/tetanus is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk."
In case you don't know about the FDA pregnancy categories on medications and vaccines here is a little definition for you.

FDA PREGNANCY CATEGORIES

The FDA-assigned pregnancy categories as used in the Drug Formulary are as follows:

Category A Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters).

Category B Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

Category C Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Category D There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Category X Studies in animals or humans have demonstrated fetal abnormalities and/or there is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience, and the risks involved in use of the drug in pregnant women clearly outweigh potential benefits.

"I should also point out that whooping cough is a national problem, not just Washington State’s. The U.S. has had over 17,000 cases this year, putting it on track for the worst year since 1959. The highest rate of infection in the nation is in Wisconsin (which has also been hit hard by anti-vaccine effects), followed by Washington and Montana. 10 deaths have been reported, mostly in infants who were too young to be vaccinated. For all this, we can thank the anti-vaccination movement."

The worst year of whooping cough with the whole cell pertussis vaccine was in 1947 with 156,517 cases. The worst case of whooping cough with the acellular pertussis vaccine is yep, you guessed it - 2012, because the vaccine doesn't work on all strains of pertussis AND as the FDA study suggests, the vaccinated are contracting pertussis (though they may not know it or show the classis whooping cough symptoms) and spreading it to those who are unvaccinated.
Apparently, the vaccinated are spreading the B Pertussis bacteria to those who are either too young to be vaccinated, haven't gained immunity to Pertussis, (vaccine not effective) or those who have not had a booster - not to mention those who have received all their DTaP vaccinations, including their boosters.

Effectiveness of Pertussis Vaccines:

"CDC's current estimate is that Tdap vaccination protects against pertussis in about 70% of people who receive it, but that protection fades over time. The long-term effectiveness of Tdap is still being studied."

So, what we can conclude here is that there are no long term effectiveness studies. The CDC doesn't have them, why would they? So they can allow the news media to blame the anti-vaccine movement? I'd say!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if anyone has any official study, (not survey) that has positively confirmed that the anti-vaccine movement is at fault, please forward it on to me. I'd like to take a look at it!

Eradication vs Elimination vs Importation of a VPD

To understand the difference of eradication of a vaccine preventable disease and importation of a VPD, you must first know the definitions.

In light of recent events of the cases of measles, and since measles has been eradicated from the US, we'll use this VPD as an example.

ERADICATE

1:  to pull up by the roots
2:  to do away with as completely as if by pulling up by the roots

To pull up by the 'roots' and do away with as completely as if by pulling up by the 'roots,' means to fully remove wild, (homegrown) measles from the US.
Measles was never non-existent in the US, at least not in my or your lifetime or one of your ancestors from a few centuries.

ELIMINATION

1. The act or process of removing something or someone

A disease can be eliminated, just as wild measles was in 2000 but there has never been a year that the US has NOT experienced any cases of measles.

IMPORT

1:  to bring from a foreign or external source: as
a :  to bring (as merchandise a virus) into a place or country from another country
b :  to transfer (as files or data a virus) from one format country to another [country] usually within carried by a new file host [who has recently traveled abroad]

To take the words in the definition of import, and replace it with appropriate words to define the word import, (as in imported virus) I have replaced the words with a strike through with the appropriate words and add the words in [brackets] to give a broader definition.

And interesting factoid that not many people realize is that in 2000, the year wild type measles was eliminated from the US, according to the CDC there were 86 cases of measles in the US, yet the news media will tell you that measles was eradicated from the US. EIGHTY-SIX cases of measles in 2000 does not equal eradication. Wild type measles virus was eliminated, not eradicated. These cases were all imported.

If you take a look at the stories of cases in the news media, [usually] it will tell you that the original host was contagious and (unknowingly,) spread the disease to others, and had been out of the county recently. There are some references that this original host had or had not been vaccinated, yet most of the time, if there is any mention of the host and their vaccination status, it is usually put out in the 1st or 2nd paragraph and repeated by a medical professional. What I have found is that many news media are not mentioning if the original host had been vaccinated. In this case, there is always a push to tell people to get their vaccines so they will not contract nor spread the disease.

Another, and quite often I must say, is that those who are pro-vaccine, will jump at the chance to tell everyone, "These vaccine preventable diseases are coming back because of the anti-vaccine movement. Even measles is back with a vengeance after being eradicated in 2000." My guess is that those who are talking about this in a group as broadcasters sometimes do, will draw straws or play rock paper scissors to decide who gets to tell everyone that.

I have not found one piece of news media, that does not push the need to vaccinate and some have even mentioned that infants younger than 12 months who are in an area of an 'outbreak' should get the MMR vaccine. 12 months is the recommended age to get the first dose of MMR and to be repeated at 4-6 years of age. Many people do not have any record of MMR vaccination since the family practice Dr has since passed away and his clinic is no longer in operation, (obviously). I highly doubt anything was ever put on a floppy disk, (or any kind of computer) since there were only typewriters and copy machines in the office.

So, there you have it. There is no anti-vaccine movement causing all the measles outbreaks, (if you find any documented studies please let me know,) and if you do have a person who has not been vaccinated yet, they are probably too young or in the case of the lovely media, the person does not know their vaccination status, (meaning they do not have documentation of receiving a vaccine,) so they are put in the 'unvaccinated' population by the media.

Naturally Healthy Mama's own Hippocratic Oath

The Hippocratic Oath is widely believed to have been written by Hippocrates, often regarded as the father of western medicine, or by one of his students.
The Hippocratic Oath is one of the most widely known of Greek medical texts. It requires a new physician to swear upon a number of healing gods that he will uphold a number of professional ethical standards.

“I swear by Apollo, the healer, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath and agreement:

To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art; and that by my teaching, I will impart a knowledge of this art to my own sons, and to my teacher’s sons, and to disciples bound by an indenture and oath according to the medical laws, and no others.

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.

I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.

But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.

I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.

In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or men, be they free or slaves.

All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.

If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all humanity and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my life.”

There are many [ethical] problems that are contrary to the Hippocratic Oath, including but not limited to abortion, avoid any voluntary act of impropriety or corruption, omitting or changing words or phrases in the Oath and replacing with words relevant to conventional medicine. Are these ‘arts’ really what we want the medical community to do to our bodies? Our family? Our loved ones? Our friends?
It is time for a different but similar Hippocratic Oath for us Natural Mom’s and Dad’s, one that points out the differences between conventional vs alternative medicine.

I swear by Apollo, the healer,  Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath and agreement:

I swear by my family, who I love, respect and whom I am dedicated to their health and well being, I take to witness all the mothers and fathers around me, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath and agreement:

To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art; and that by my teaching, I will impart a knowledge of this art to my own sons, and to my teacher’s sons, and to disciples bound by an indenture and oath according to the medical laws, and no others.

To consider dear to me, as my parents, who taught me to think for myself and care for my family, and not the greater good, to share with others who are willing to listen and learn, just as I teach my children and loved ones, and that by teaching them, I will impart a knowledge to the art of love, caring and compassion, to others who choose to follow against the art of conventional medicine and learn of an art in alternative medicine.

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.

I will share my experiences and knowlege, not to be taken as instruction, but to be taken only as experiences while citing scientific studies, knowing that my judgement is intended to never do harm to anyone.

I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.

I will never suggest any deadly alternative medicine to anyone if asked, nor suggest any such counsel, and similarly I will not give a woman a reason for an abortion.

But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.

But I will preserve the purity, virtue, honesty, respect and dignity of my life and my knowledge of alternative medicine.

I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.

I will not suggest any medical procedure that cannot be resolved without the use of conventional medicine, but instead will leave it to the decision of the individual whether to seek medical attention to those who are practitioners and specialists in the art of conventional medicine.

In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or men, be they free or slaves.

Every person I will meet, who seeks my knowledge, I will give my opinion and knowledge for the good of others, just as I would treat my own family, keeping myself from doing ill and expressing my own opinion and experiences, leaving one another’s story to be given by only them.

All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.

All those who may come to me seeking knowledge in my experiences as a caregiver to my family, I will not give any direct order or suggest any harm of any kind, upon others who are not in my care.

If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all humanity and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my life.

If I keep this oath faithfully, I will enjoy life as a parent, sibling and friend and will seek respect from all who are in my care, but if I sway from this oath or violate it in any way, may the reverse be my life.

Now, doesn’t that sound better?

The NHM Oath is more [ethical] to those who use and practice alternative medicine, even more ethical in conventional medicine. Think Big Pharma, the CDC, FDA, and Dr’s who get kickbacks from Big Pharma, presented by the drug reps with samples, pens, mugs, letterhead tablets, and many other items to put that drug name in the clinic for all staff to remember.

That right there is corruption, especially when our government is in bed with all of them. Is it an affair on them all? No, it is an affair on the uninformed people who are told:

“No shots, no school!”

“You can’t leave the hospital with your baby if you don’t give the HepB vaccine!”

“If you don’t vaccinate your kids, then you cannot return to the clinic!”

“It’s all your fault that vaccinations don’t work!”

or the infamous words uttered by parents who vaccinate their kids,
“Unless you vaccinate your kids, then don’t get near my kids!”

If, in fact, vaccines worked as well as we are told:

“Get the MMR and your kid won’t get measles, mumps or rubella!”

then why are there so many parents out there afraid of unvaccinated kids?

Since antibiotics are so readily prescribed, does that mean that they work? Of course they do! They kill the bad bacteria, but they also kill the good bacteria – leaving your immune system to fight off germs and viruses. Make the immune system sicker than it already was? That must be where the phrase “It will get worse before it get’s better” comes from!

What Dr’s don’t, (or won’t) tell us is that there ARE alternatives out there that do work and have been scientifically proven to work, but they won’t tell you that. It isn’t their job to tell us about proven treatments that have killed bacteria, fungus, parasites, viruses (yes, antiviral alternative medicines are out there!) cancer, controlled seizures and much, much more!

The information is out there, you just have to look for it. I’m sure that you know at least 10 people who use alternative, natural therapies to treat medical issues.

Don’t get me wrong, I do use conventional medicine [at times] but only when needed.
When surgery is needed, or necessary I’ll take advantage of my health insurance benefits but I probably won’t have a chance to meet my family deductible unless there is a surgery.

That being said, the advice given here is NOT intended to be taken out of context, those who post as a guest blogger, will only be giving their experience and will not act in place of a medical professional.
